Billie Newton Barnes, age 82 years, one month and 14 days, a resident of East Prairie, passed away Wednesday September 15, 2010 in the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born August 1, 1928 in Fordyce, Arkansas, Billie lived most of his life in East Prairie where he was a retired Truck Driver and was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was married to Margaret Jo Bailey who preceded in death on December 22, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents Verber Edwin & Lela Pearl Allen Barnes; and his wife, Margaret Jo Bailey; two brothers, Harold & Herman Barnes; four sisters, Opal Barnes Crecshale, Pauline Lansdale, Jane Murra and Mary Helen Harrell.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Tim Nicoson of Benton and Pam & Claude Russell of Sikeston; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ricky & Kerri Penrod and Bruce Penrod all of East Prairie and Danny & Patty Penrod of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three nieces Erma Joyce Keeton of Kansas City, Missouri, Sharon & Michael Green and Melinda & Robert Warbington both of Eldorado, Arkansas; six great-nieces and nephews, Steve, Carol, Sheila, Sammie, Adam and Sean; four great-great-nieces and nephews, Joshua, Crystal, Michelle, Susan; and several great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday September 19, in the Shelby Chapel with Bro. Mike Worrell officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Barnes Family Cemetery near Fordyce, Arkansas. Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements.

The family request memorial contributions be made to the First Church of God, 320 North Washington Street, East Prairie, Missouri 63845.
