Wilda D. DeHart, Sr.
Resident of St. Charles, IL
April 11, 1923-Mar. 3, 2012

Wilda was a long term resident of Santa Clara and Scotts Valley, prior to retiring to Palm Desert, CA and then Santa Barbara. She passed away after a short illness peacefully in Batavia, Illinois surrounded by her family.

Wilda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill in November of 2010. She is survived by her five children, Bill (Turlock, CA), Dave (Sunnyvale, CA), Don (San Jose, CA), Phil (Manila, Philippines), and Ruth Lindstedt (St. Charles, Ill.) She is also survived by her younger sister, Mary Lou Ford (Beaver Falls, Pa). Wilda had 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 10 nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Wilda grew up on a farm outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She originally studied to be a teacher at Westminster College in Pennsylvania and decided that a career as a nurse suited her interests much better. She received her nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Her skills as a nurse served her well in her career and in raising an active family.

Wilda worked as a Registered Nurse and retired from the County of Santa Clara after serving as a Public Health Nurse. She also worked with Visiting Nurses, Agnew Hospital and various other field and hospital assignments in Virginia, Illinois, and California. She met and married Bill while she was assigned to a Naval hospital in Norfolk, Virginia during WWII.

Wilda's career spanned four decades. In addition, she co-founded a printing business in 1972. She spent her retirement years traveling with her husband, writing, playing all kinds of games, especially Scrabble, enjoying family and friends. She was an encouragement to many and was generous with her time and resources to help those in need.

Wilda was laid to rest at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. along side her husband.

She will be remembered always with fondness from her entire family and those fortunate enough to have known her and called her a friend.

The family is planning a service celebrating her life in Illinois for family and friends on the 17th of March in St. Charles, Illinois.

Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, any gifts be sent to the following organization where Wilda spent her final days: The Good Samaritan Fund c/o Holmstad Covenant Retirement Community 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, Ill. 60510 in memory of Wilda DeHart.
