Chester Frances Wallendorf , cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather (Opa), devout Catholic and friend to many went to the Lord to join his beloved wife Dora on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012.


Chester was born on November 12, 1926 in Fredericksburg, Texas. During World War II, Chester proudly served in the Army. He graduated from St. Mary's University. He lived in San Antonio for many years and attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He had a long career in the automotive industry. He was well known and respected in that field and served in many capacities, from sales to general manager.


At St. Mary's University, Chester was an excellent baseball player and was drafted by the Boston Braves and remained an avid baseball fan all of his life. Baseball and football were his favorite hobbies and interests after his family. Chester was a long time member of St. Gregory's Senior Society and also served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.


Chester was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dora and two sisters and four brothers. Chester leaves behind his daughter Elaine, her husband Steve Hitzfelder, his son Steve and his wife Corie; grandchildren John Hitzfelder, Anne Scovell, her husband Nick, Michael Dunne, his wife Deniz and Tiffany Dunne Davila; great-grandchildren Alison and Madeline Scovell and Jorge and Michael Davila. He also leaves behind his friend and companion, Alice Gregoire. There are many memories and lessons in life that he left behind. He will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Gregory's Senior Center or to the Presentation Sisters.


Services

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with the Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the church Senior Center. A Cryptside Service will begin at 2:30 PM on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Fredericksburg TX.
