Eileen Kashak
CHESTERTON - Eileen Theresa "Mickey" Kashak, 82, Chesterton, died Friday (Dec. 29, 2000) at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, with Monsignor Joseph Semancik officiating. Burial will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kashak was born on Feb. 2, 1918, to Elmer "Two-Bits" and Eldean Louise Cole Blanchard in Gary, Ind. On Feb. 26, 1938, she married "Jack" Norbert Kashak, who survives.
Mrs. Kashak is survived by a son, Jack Kashak, Chesterton; a daughter, Sally Gibbs (Lawrence) Underwood, Manassas, Va.; two grandchildren, Geoffrey Gibbs, Glendale, Calif., and Lea Gibbs Cullen, Westchester, N.Y.; and one great-grandchild, William Cullen, Westchester.
Mrs. Kashak contributed to the community by helping to bring comprehensive dialysis services to renal patients of the greater Valparaiso area. She was a 1935 graduate of Chesterton High School, achieving highest academic achievement, was a homemaker, painter, photographer, dressmaker and musician. In later years, she became a devoted gardener. She performed volunteer work at Porter Memorial Hospital.
