Visitation for Woodrow Wilson Shalz, 82, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d'Alene. Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Coeur d'Alen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Shalz, who was born in Westmond, Idaho, died Oct. 12. He grew up in Westmond and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1935. He the moved to Spokan and worked for the Spokane Air Depot Command for four years. In 1945 he married Frances Ritter. They lived in Granite, Idaho, near Cocolalla and he worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad and Kaiser Aluminum before becomin a self-empolyed logger and rancher from 1953-1997. He was a member of the Gas and Steams Buffs Club of Spokane. Surivivors include his wife; two sons, Fred Shalz of Coeur d'Alene and Wallace Shalz of Great Falls, Mont.; three daughters, Patricia Payne of Kalispell, Mont., Teri Reynolds of Post Falls, and Nancy Heuett of Athol, Idaho; two sisters, Mary Christensen of Vancouver, Wash., and Florence Clark of Oregon; a half-sister, Pearl Shave of Tonasket, Wash.; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributiosn may be made to Children's Village.
