OBITUARY
Mrs. Edith Swain
Surviving her husband by only fifteen days, Mrs. Edith Swain passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 22, at the age of 50 years, five months and fifteen days. Deceased had been in failing health for some time and it I thought that the shock of her husband's death hastened the crisis, which leaves a recently happy and united family without a father and mother.
Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. from the Congregational church, services being in charge of Rev. G. C. Squire, who spoke from the test, Phil 2:21. Interment following in Harwood cemetery beside her husband, who passed away Feb. 7th.
Edith (Day) Swain was born Sept. 7, 1868, at Saratoga, Minn., but when she was 10 years old her parents moved to Edgerton, that state. In 1891 she was united in marriage to Rev. C. J. Swain. The lived in Minnesota for 22 years, coming to Washington five years ago, having resided in Arlington three years. She is survived by two daughters, Mabel and Harriet, and one son, Rae. A brother-in-law, Rev. E. A. Swain, is here to comfort the family in its time of sorrow. Mrs. Swain was characterized by her calm, perfect trust in the divine will, and in a quiet, unostentatious was was full of good works, seeking out dark places she might brighten and sad hearts, which she might cheer.
Arlington Times, March 6, 1919
