Atkins, Charlie Jefferson, a self-employed contractor of Hueytown died December 26, 2000. He was a Mason for over 50 years, an accomplished musician in gospel, bluegrass and country music, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2000 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be Thursday at Noon at Brown's Service West Chapel. Rev. Ernie Gray will officiate.

Mr. Atkins is survived by: Spouse, Edna Atkins (58 years of marriage), one daughter, Wanda McDaniel of Hueytown; one son, Kevin Atkins (wife, Denise) of Chalkville; one brother Thurman Dee "Steve" Atkins; eight grandchldren; Darryl McDaniel, Cindy Woodham, Hollie Gray, Joshua Lee, Ben Atkins, Amber Lee, Emily Atkins and Jodi Lee, four great-grandchildren.
