Mr. Clanton, formerly of Rockingham, was born April 5, 1902, in Chesterfield county, S. C., the son of the late B. C. and Rachel Brown Clanton. He was a member of Pee Dee Baptist church of Rockingham and was in the grocery business in Rockingham before coming to Charlotte four months ago.
Surviving Mr. Clanton are his wife, Mrs. Loma Bown Clanton; a son, Samuel Clanton, jr., of Charlotte; five brothers, W. C. and W. R. Clanton of Rock Hill, S. C., O. A. and D. C. Clanton of Concord, and B. C. Clanton of Norwood, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Steen of Kannapolis.
