Obituary for Laurah Frances Minter

Laurah Francis Cook Minter died peacefully at her home in Willis, Texas December 28, 2019. She was born February 7, 1932 in Willis, Texas to Willard Allen and Lucille Busby Cook. Laurah was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Vernon Ray Minter; parents; brothers Garland William Cook and Jim Winn Cook; sisters Emma Jean Purselley and Ella Jeanette Jones. She is survived by her three daughters Cathy Roane, Sharon Stone and husband Barney, and Dale Autrey; grandchildren Michelle Cryer, Tammie Howell and husband Scott, Travis Autrey and wife Layla, Lacey Cullens, Jon Paul Autrey, Erin Autrey Taylor and husband Louis; step grandchildren Kelli and JD Davis, Kyle and Teresa Stone; great grandchildren Grace and Macey Cullens, Breyliann Minter, Lane Howell, Tristian and Lauralai Autrey and Emma Taylor; step grandchildren Kasie and Kealie Howell, Aryana McKee, Levi and Owen Davis; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Laurah graduated from Willis High School. After working for Conroe Police Department with 25 years of service as Head Dispatcher she retired leaving many friends who became extended family members. Laurah’s love for her family, friends, cooking homemade meals, her flower gardens and working in her hard was what made her happy along with watching her hummingbirds that came to see her every spring and summer. Every time we see a blooming flower or hummingbird, we will remember our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Laurah’s family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the nurses, chaplain and staff of Reliant at Home Hospice of Willis Texas.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 11:00 – 12:00 noon at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel. Interment will be a private family service at Willis Cemetery at a later date.
