OSCEOLA — Dorene G. Frizzell-Rodene, 92, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012, at the United Methodist Church, in Osceola, with Pastor Robert Perry officiating.
Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola officiating. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.
Dorene was born Oct. 10, 1919, to Irl and Gertrude (Laudder) Ward at Silver Creek. She attended Silver Creek schools and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1937.
On April 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to Dale Frizzell in Silver Creek. To this union two children were born. They moved to Osceola where Dale was the Polk County Clerk. Dorene was a homemaker and later worked for Nahrstedt's Dime Store for 17 years as a clerk. She retired in the early 1970s and then started working part-time in the dietary department at Osceola Good Samaritan Society until the late 1980s. Dale passed away on Nov. 29, 1987.
Dorene remained living in Osceola. She later was united in marriage to DeVern Rodene on June 29, 1996. They continued living in Osceola until DeVern's passing on Oct. 13, 2001. Dorene moved to the Good Samaritan Society on Jan. 5, 2012, where she resided until her passing.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osceola, United Methodist Women, Extension Club and Bide-A-Wees.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, needle work, crocheting and doing family genealogy on the computer.
Survivors include daughter, Jane (Dick) Dittmer, of Osceola; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irl and Gertrude; one son, Ronald D. Frizzell; two sisters, Zelda "Zee" Van Winkle and Wilda "Billy" Ward.
