Joseph Edward Dirnberger, 82, of Palm Desert, died July 20, 2008 in Saint Cloud, MN of natural causes. Joseph was born to Joseph and Bernadine (Botzet) Dirnberger on June 15, 1926 in Sauk Centre, MN. He married Hazel (Swafford) Dirnberger on January 21, 1948 in Palm Springs, CA. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1944 – February 1946. He was a supervisor for Hoams Swimming Pools for over 20 years. He was a member of the Elks #1643 and #1905 (Palm Springs), Knights of Columbus, Moose, American Legion, VFW and Sacred Heart Church. Joseph is survived by his wife, Hazel Dirnberger of Palm Desert; brothers: John Dirnberger, Jerry Dirnberger and Eugene Dirnberger; sisters: Marie Cooper, Genevieve Hendry and Margaret Hawley; many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Dirnberger; sisters, Cecelia Svenneby and Bernadine Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Elks Crippled Children. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 4:00-7:00 PM at FitzHenry Funeral Home Palm Desert Chapel with a 6:30 Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2008, with graveside service at 2:00 PM at Coachella Valley Cemetery. FitzHenry Funeral Home Palm Desert Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
