Emily was the daughter of Nathaniel White & Nancy Ann Thornton. She was a teacher before she was united in marriage to Solomon B. Knapp, July 2, 1841 and the mother of 4 children. For 15 years before her death, she had a bronchial cough, but died with quick consumption. She died at the home of her daughter, Josephine R. Spencer.
