"The death of Loren David Sperry, highly esteemed resident of this village, occurred Thursday morning of last week at 7 o'clock in the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital after a week's illness of pneumonia. He had been in ill health for over three years. Private funeral services were held in the home at No. 6 Susquehanna Saturday afternoon The Rev. Dr. Wilbur S. Sheriff, pastor of the First Baptist church officiated and interment was made at Hartwick Seminary. Mr. Sperry was born in Maryland April 23, 1876, the son of Samuel W. Sperry and Jane A. (Tripp) Speriy. He was married May 12, 1909, to Miss Cora Chase of Cooperstown, who survives, with one sister, Mrs. Harriet White, Oneonta; one niece, Mrs. Alba Barnum, Schenevus, and one nephew, Loren R. Chase, Central Bridge. For nearly twenty years, until his retirement a year ago, due to his health, Mr. Sperry had been employed by the New York State Electric & Gas corporation as meter reader in the local area.
