Picher, Okla - Jessie Mitchell Rhodes, 80, of Picher, Oklahoma, formerly of Columbus, died at 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, Oklahoma, after an illness.
Mrs. Rhodes was born September 21, 1912, at VanBuren, Arkansas. She had lived the past 20 years in Picher. She previously lived at Columbus and worked several years in the laundry department at Maude Norton Memorial City Hospital. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church, Commerce.
Her first husband, John R. "Bob" Mitchell, died in 1970. Her second husband, LeeRoy Rhodes, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, John Robert Mitchell, Miami; Jack Eugene Mitchell, Cedar Point, Ks., and Bobby Gene Mitchell, Leesville, LA.; two daughters, Polly Davis, Pineville, MO., and Peggy Lois Tharp, El Centro, CA.; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Forbis, Miami; a sister, Pearl DeHoog, San Jose, Calif.; 21 granchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday in the Paul Thomas Funeral Home chapel in Picher. The Rev. Viola Perdue officiated. Burial was in Lowell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bruce Moore, Chester Hart, Marion Reece, Lloyd Divine and Captain Ross LeRoy Hudson.
