HARTSVILLE - George Thomas "Peach" Walden Sr., 87, was a son of the late William Albert and Sarah Honeycutt Walden. He had retired with 40 years of service from Sonoco Products Co. He was also owner and operator of George T. Walden Inc. and Hartsville Glidden Paint Center. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Hartsville Masonic Lodge and the Old Timers Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was loved by his families.

He was devoted to his wife, Elizabeth Denning Brown Walden, and his predeceased wife, Irene Watkins Walden. He was also survived by his son, George (Denise) Walden Jr. of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Judy Garrett of Hartsville, SC; brother, William Sanford (Bertha) Walden of Monroe, NC; daughter-in-law, Becky Walden of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Chad (Elliott) Walden, Will Walden, Wendi (Beau) Sutherlin, Len (Kellie) Garrett, Josh Walden, Dusty Walden, Rebecca Walden; stepchildren, Becky (Tony) Rummage, Allen Brown, Sue (Mickey) Barfield, David Brown; seven great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Harry Walden.
