John Young married Mary Dunn 16 December 1812 in Ireland. About 1817 he came to the U.S. and settled in Philadelphia where he pursued his trade as a weaver. By 1821 his family had joined him and in 1836 they moved to Greene County Alabama, where his brother, James Dunn, husband of Isabella Caufield; William Dunn, husband of Ann Cooper; and Ann Dunn, wife of Alex Caskey, had earlier settled prior to moving on to Texas with other families.
