Clarinda Pinckney Tate, b 20 Nov 1844, Callaway Co.. Mo.; m 20 Feb 1868 Samuel Steele McCue, b 31 Jul 1841, son of Col. M. H. McCue (long High Sheriff of Augusta Co., Va.) and Sara Frances Steele. Mrs. McCue was a regular graduate from Oakland Institute 1861, which subsequently became Fulton Female Seminary, and in 1875 Synodical College. Mr. McCue came to Missouri from Virginia, 1857, and engaged in farming with his father. Enlisted under the Stars and Bars during the late war (Day's Company, Perkin's Regiment and Prices 's Command) ; later in mercantile business.
Apostle of Democracy, member of County and Congressional Democratic Committees. Elder in Old AuxVasse Presbyterian Church, — as was his father; frequent delegate to Mo. Presbytery and Synod; Commissioner to the General Assembly. Member Board of Directors of Auxvasse Bank; a Mason for 52 years; res. AuxVasse, Mo.
