Carl E. Reed, Sr. of Evart Township, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Chippewa Township of Mecosta County. He was 82.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reed City with Rev. Jeffrey Potter officiating. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at the Grant Center Cemetery, South, Mecosta County.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Building Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was originally named A. J. Bancroft but was given up for adoption to the Reed family after his birth mother died.

He had siblings: Raymond Bancroft, Charles Bancroft Dyer, Donald Bancroft Carpenter and Doris Bancroft Carpenter. Basil & Jenie Carpenter adopted Donald and Doris. The children were given up for adoption after their mother died and their father was unable to care for them.
