Ella May Loomis was one of 3 daughters born to twin Leslie Marion Loomis (also buried here) and first wife Lucinda Anderson. Her other sisters were Bertie and Bonnie Loomis. Her father remarried Josephine Tyree and she gained sisters, twins Cassie and Clara, and brother Jacob Hiram.

Ella May lost her mother when she was less than 10 years old and would die young herself at only age 45, leaving daughters and sons, such as my mother, Mary Evelyn Gorham, who was only 14, Elsie 17 and Wanda age 9. While her sons were older, I'm sure Norman, Tracy and Earnest were deeply affected by the loss of their mother as well.

I never had a chance to meet my grandmother or talk to my own mother about Ella May. But I've been told that she loved to plant flowers, was a Christian church going woman and enjoyed singing. All these interests she passed down to her family and I know my mama, Mary, loved to do all three. I'm sure Ella May would be pleased to know this, including all the talents her other children posessed and how they lived their lives. She was quickly united with her lost baby, Burotha, also buried here and one by one she has welcomed all of her children home to be with her in a heaven I'm sure she srongly believed in.
