A self-employed pipeliner for 42 years, Mr. Gibson also was an Army veteran, having served during World War II, a member of Mitchellsburg Baptist Church, a past president and secretary of Mitchellsburg Lions Club, a former constable in the first district, a charter member of Mitchellsburg Fire Department and former deputy warden of the U.S. Forest Service.Additional survivors include a son, Richard Gibson of Illinois; a daughter, Janice Kirk of Illinois; two sisters, Mildred Brown of California, and Doris Lessenberry of Glasgow; three brothers, Paul and Fred Gibson, both of Illinois, and Drexel Gibson of Echo Knob.Pallbearers will be Paul and Michael Pelley, Johnny Russell, Jeff Sparks, Eddie Engle and Mike Wilder.
