Funeral Services were held at Sawin and Douglass chapel. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born January 18, 1873, at Des Moines, Iowa, and was the daughter of William and Lucinda Harris Jackson. She was married in Plattsburg, MO, in 1899 to William Jacob Smith. The next year, they moved to Atchison and set up housekeeping on the farm a mile west of Walnut Creek Inn where they had lived ever since.
Besides her husband she was survived by four children, Mrs. Roy (Mary Amy) Surritt,Atchison, Mrs. William (Josephine) Ball, Route 1, John William Smith, Route 1, and Henry Albert Smith, Route 1; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. William (Susan) Surritt, died September 21, 1938.
