Oscar was the son of John Franklin Bird and Mattie Medicine WolfWoman. He had ten brothers and sisters. He was born on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. He worked hard all his life. In his later years, he worked at Boeing in Seattle and retired from that company. He worked swing shift many of his employment years with Boeing and commuted to the plant in Seattle. Oscar was easy-going and never complained about working. After his wife Vera retired from her work at a hospital in Everett, Oscar was always acceptable to having one or more grandchildren in his the home to raise. Not having children of his own, he raised his wife's children with an open heart.
