Jimmie W. Straw Stewart, 74, passed away on November 24, 2006 due to complications of Leukemia. He was born on February 25, 1932 in Memphis, Texas.

Straw completed all his education in Texas. He was a High School Golden Glove Boxing Champion. He was also an Eagle Scout.

Straw worked as an Electrician and was involved with many clubs and affiliations including Veteran of the Korean War, and he was a life member of Yuma County Sheriff's Posse, Yuma Jaycees. and Yuma County Team Penners Association where he helped organize charitable events to raise funds for various groups including Hospice and Saddles of Joy. Straw belonged to the First Christian Church.

Straw is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Rick (Lynette) Stewart; daughter, Barbara (Keith) Lute; grandsons, Ricky Stewart II, Dustin Stewart, Cody Van Dolah, Brenton Lute, and Jacob Lute; granddaughters, Nicole Stewart, and Brie Ann Lute, all of Yuma; brothers, Clifton Bill Stewart, of Prescott, Arizona, Billy Joe Stewart, and Jerry Don Stewart, both of Yuma; sisters, Wanda Williams, Sandy Pierce, Pauline Poff, and Rita Parker, all of Texas, and Bobbie O'Keefe, of Massachusetts; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Bell Stewart; and father, Robert O. Stewart.

A funeral service will be held at First Christian Church, Highway 80 and Avenue 6E on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Dan Trautman officiating. Burial will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Nelson, Bill Lebrecht, Charlie Gregston, Ralph Ogden, Allie Padgett, and Lynn Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Lewis, Bill Meinhardt, Willie Zamora, Wes Eades, Ben Stephens, James Skeeter Dunn.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saddles of Joy.
