James Thomas Obradovich, 62, of Bryants Camp Rd, passed away Saturday March 03, 2012. He is survived by his wife Bernice Pendleton Obradovich, and his mother Elaine Gasper Obradovich. James (Jim) professed his faith in Jesus Christ and regularly attended Gods Landmark Church in Garrard Co. Jim was a devoted husband and son. He loved sports, being outdoors, nature and animals especially dogs.

Also surviving is a brother, David Obradovich (Kate) of Frankfort, Ky. a step-son Michael Gribbins of Lancaster and a step-grandson Levi Gribbins of Lexington. He is preceded in death by his father Lt, Colonel Francis Obradovich Jr. Paternal Grandparents, Francis Obradovich Sr. and Mary L. Obradovich, Maternal Grandparents Michael J. Gasper and Marie A. Gasper.

Jim was an outstanding athlete excelling in the sport of baseball. His high school baseball team at Fort Knox was the runner up in the state championship in 1967. After graduation that year, he signed with the Minnesota Twins. He also played for the Atlanta Braves, and the Houston Astros . One of his biggest hits was a triple off of Gaylord Perry. He played in the Mexican League for several years as well. In 1979 his team won the Championship game with a score of four runs to one. Jim hit two home runs in that game and was named most valuable player for the Navajoa team. Over the years some of Jim's teammates included Ricky Henderson, Burt Blyleven, Bruce Bocky, Vernado Valenzuela and Mario Mendoza.

Jim served in the United States Army from January 25, 1971- January 17, 1973. He was elevated to Sergeant and was stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he returned to his baseball career that he loved so much.

Funeral Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday March 7, 2012 at the Gods Landmark Church, Kennedy Bridge Rd, Garrard County with Pastors Bob Rawlings and Gary Noe officiating. Visitation is Tuesday 5-8 P.M. Spurlin Funeral Home, burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
