Cliff will be laid to rest at Bixby Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Friends may visit at the funeral home until 7:00 this evening with the family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 7:00. Cliff passed away on Sat., March 3, 2012. He was 91.
Born in Hominy, OK on July 31, 1920 to Frank Byron and Elizabeth (Coleby) Moutray, Cliff attended Wynona Public Schools. He served in the Army Artillery in the European theater during World War II. In 1944 Cliff and Nila Mae Jones married and raised two children together. She passed away in 1963. On Sept. 2, 1967 Cliff and Barbara Burch were married.
Cliff supported his family working as a carpenter, constructing homes. From 1967 to 1984 he also worked for the civil service. In 1990 Cliff and Barbara moved to Claremore and became members of the First Baptist Church family. He was willing to help in any way required, from counting offering money to building sets for church programs. He was also active in the Keen-Agers group and in his ministry to the Baptist Homes for Children.
Leisure time for Cliff meant sports or travel. He and Barbara visited each of the 50 states and Canada, enjoyed their "dream vacation," cruising to Alaska and took frequent shorter trips to Branson. Cliff continued to use his woodworking skills even outside of his employment. He built a ping pong table and basketball backboard for his children and created countless beautiful and useful items for his home. According to Barbara he could transform any piece of wood into a work of art.
Cliff lived a lifestyle of evangelism. Remembered as a seed planter, his productive life was an example of his devotion and faith. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of their Claremore home; his children, Claude Moutray and wife, Angela, of Vacaville, Calif., Gary Moutray and wife, Phillis, of Skiatook, and Carol Vansickel and husband, Leighton, of Tulsa; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nila, and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers or other condolences, please consider sending a donation in Cliff's name to Baptist Homes for Children, 12700 E. 76th St. North, Owasso, OK 74055.
