ARLINGTON - Memorial services are pending for Greenville native Alta Merle Little Course, who died Thursday in South Arlington Medical Center.

Mrs. Course was born March 17, 1908, in Greenville, to James F. and Ala Whatley Little. She taught piano, organ, and accordian and composed and arranged music for her all-girl-accordion band and trio of girl singers. For many years she was an organist and choir director of Central Christian Church in Greenville. She was educated in Greenville Public Schools and Kidd Key College in Sherman.

Her family members were pioneer settlers in the Greenville area and were active in Central Christian Church. They owned and operated Little Hardware Company on the north side of the square. At one time her father, the late J.F. Little was county clerk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Course in 1984; sisters, Clio Little Bunch, and Floy Little Wolfe; and one brother, Grayson Little.

Survivors include a son, Roger Course; and granddaughters, Ashley ande Lisa Course, of Arlington.
