ANNA B. STEGEN

Anna B. Stegen, a resident of 7289 S. Schneider Rd., Canby, passed away at the Silverton Hospital Monday morning, February 15, at the age of 71. She was born to Martin and Martha Aamodt at Portland, Oregon on July 6, 1910 and lived in Portland for one year before the family moved to Mist, Oregon, where she grew up. Anna was married to OLAF (Ole) STEGEN at St. Helens, Oregon on June 30, 1931 and they lived at Glade, Montana from 1931 until 1944 when they came to their present home. She got her teacher's certificate from Pacific Lutheran at Tacoma and taught school for one year at Glade, Montana, and after coming to this area, she taught school at Monitor, North Howell, Barlow and at Canby from September 1, 1966 until July 13, 1975. Anna was a member of the Zoar Lutheran Church at Canby, a member of the Sons of Norway, and a member of the American Association of Retired People. She retired from teaching in 1975.

Surviving are her husband Olaf (Ole) of Canby; one son, John Stegen, of Canby, six daughters; Clara Mealue of Lebanon, Marie Wick of Corvallis, Lillian Lewis of Vancouver, Wa., Helen Krieger of Oak Harbor, Washington, Anne Berk of Hubbard, Martha Dunlap of Coleman, South Dakota, three brothers, Henry, Edwin and Lars Aamodt, of Hubbard; one sister; Helen M. memorial contributions to the Heart Association.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 18, at the Canby Chapel of Everhart and Kent. Interment followed at the Miller Cemetery near Silverton.
