William Powe Anderson was a son of Dr. Jim Anderson and Bessie Powe. He was a giving man. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years. All four of his sons served in the military, with William , Jr. being killed in action during the Korean War.

In a biographical sketch of his father, James Jackson Anderson describes him eloquently:

"Patient, compassionate, slow to judge others, often a friend to the friendless, he shunned pomposity and zealotry. William Powe Anderson was respected by his neighbors, admired by his friends, and looked up to by his children ---a most fitting tribute to a decent and honorable man."
