Rev. W.A. Audilea Callihan

Rev. W.A. Audilea Callihan, 87, of Etowah, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at a local hospital.

Born in Fannin County, Ga., on Jan. 1, 1917, and a former resident of Cleveland, he was one of 12 children born to the late John and Victoria Chastain Callihan, formerly of Bradley County. He was a member of Conasauga Baptist Church and was an ordained Baptist minister for 54 years. He pastored various churches in McMinn, Polk and Bradley counties, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Gladson Callihan; one son, Jerry Callihan; one stepson, Ed Stiles; six brothers, Claude, Roy, Floyd, Carson, Carl and Hobart; and three sisters, Lillie Woody, Edith Johnson and Joyce Dotson.

Survivors include his wife, Donnie Callihan of Etowah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Virgil Dunn of Old Fort, and Faye and Frankie Lowery of Ocoee; one brother, Garman Callihan of Cleveland; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Callihan of Cleveland; one stepdaughter-in-law, Dianne Stiles of Etowah; seven grandchildren and three spouses, Dianne Dunn of Cleveland, Terry and Debbie Dunn of Old Fort, Karen McCracken of Cleveland, Denise and Allen Dean of Old Fort, Timmy Callihan of Chattanooga, Michelle and David Sorrell of Tupelo, Miss., and Mark Lowery of Ocoee; two step-granchildren and one spouse, Beth and Craig Ledford of Madisonville, and Doug Stiles of Nashville; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with his pastors, the Rev. Fred Tate, the Rev. Homer Belcher and the Rev. Kenneth Gardner officiating, and will conclude with the Celebration of Life video. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday and proceed to Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Cleveland for the 2 p.m. burial.

Pallbearers will be Terry Dunn, Allen Dean, David Sorrell, Mark Lowery, Justin Dunn, Timmy Callihan, Doug Stiles and Craig Ledford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Conasauga Baptist Church Building Fund.
