George E. White, 89, St. Joseph, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at a S. Joseph hospital.
For 41 years, Mr. White was employed by St. Joseph Light and Power Co. until retiring in 1975.
Born in Kansas City on Nov. 13, 1911, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
Mr. White was a member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Joseph and was involved with Boy Scouts of America for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Virginia A. Wilson, in 1989; his parents, John W. and Anna E.; and two brothers, Alvin and Bill.
Surviving: two daughters, Sandra Hamilton, St. Joseph, and Jennifer Stuber, Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.mm. Monday, Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Joseph. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery St. Joseph. Visitation: after 11 a.m. today at Meirhofer Family Funeral Service, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to his church.
