Vernon Edward Adams, also known as Shorty or Spider, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 in Mexia, Texas. He was born December 10, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas to Levi and Rosie Lee (Wells) Adams. Vernon served in the U. S. Navy during World War ll on board the U. S. Wisconsin. He married Bobbie Lee Raulston on January 14, 1949 in Dallas. He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service and was a 55 year member of the Masonic Lodge # 705 in Oak Cliff. He had numerous longtime friends that he kept in contact with especially some of the people that he worked with at General Motors. Vernon loved fishing, collecting guns, gardening and landscaping his yard. He was the most generous, kind hearted person you would ever meet. Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Theresa Skipper and her husband, Billy of Mexia and Debbie Peavey and her husband, Steve of Maypearl; one son, Gary Adams of Dallas; one brother, Donald Mathe and his wife, Gertrude of Kansas; Grandchildren, Zachary Shanz, Johnny Shanz, Mark Schwing and his wife, Kathy, Shelly Yates and her husband, Marti, Michael Peavy and his wife, Amy, Jason Adams and his wife, Erica and Kevin Peavy and his wife Jennifer; nineteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren with three more on the away, two of which are twins. Vernon was preceded in death by the love of his life and his one and only, Bobbie Lee Adams on November 17, 1993 after 44 years of marriage; his parents and two sisters, Francis Inman and Nancy Diterch.
