MISS EMILIE HEIER

Miss Emilie Heier whose earthly remains are contained in the casket before us, whose soul, however, has already been carried away by the angels unto the abode prepared for those who die in the Lord, was born in our county near Albany on November 8, in the year 1876, as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Heuer. She was baptized by the Rev. Karl Wende and later at the proper age she was confirmed by the Rev. J. Lange. Throughout her long life she has always been a member of this congregation, the Ebenezer Church.

Last Friday she took sick very suddenly and was rushed to the hospital at St. Cloud where she underwent an operation in order to check the disease, but all medical skill was in vain, her illness was unto death and already in the night from Saturday to Sunday she departed this life to sorrow to be translated into the other life. She reached the age of 71 years, 2 months and 23 days. Dr. Tauber, the newly called minister of her church, administered spiritual aid to her Saturday afternoon.

She leaves seven sisters to mourn her death, namely Emma, now Mrs. Charles Christen of Roscoe, South Dakota; Irene, now Mrs. J. D. Nothwehr of Richville, Minnesota; Pauline, now Mrs. R. V. Synder of Castle Rock, Washington; Anna, now Mrs. Ed Thomas of Seattle, Washington; Adelheide, now Mrs. A. C. Bartz of Waukegan, Illinois; Miss Hulda Heier and Miss Wilhelmine Heier and one brother, Mr. Christopher Heier. The last three mentioned are making their home together on the farm near Albany. Among the mourners is also a niece Mrs. (Ruth) Frank Katzner and her husband who also live at the same farm here near Albany.

Two brothers, John and William, and a sister, Miss Auguste Heier, have departed this life years before, who will now be met by their sister in eternity.

May our dear sister rest in peace.

The text for the funeral address is written in Revelations 14-13. The officiating pastor was the Rev. Richard Taeuber, D. D. of Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran church. This funeral represents the first official act of the new minister of Ebenezer congregation.

Pallbearers were: Ted Lemke, Paul Paschka, Joe Ehlinger, Thomas Gill, John Katzner and Elmer Katzner. Adolph Hodel carried the cross and Edward Lemke and Sherley Gill were flower beaters.
