George M. Burmeier, 85, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2000 at Provena Mercy Hospital. He was born November 19, 1914 in East St. Louis, Illinois.

    Mr. Burmeier was employed as an electrician with the Burlington-Northern Railroad for over 27 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a past member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Aurora; Aurora Masonic Lodge #254 AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies of Omaga, Neb.; Medinah Temple of Chicago, IL; Aurora Area Shrine Club and past member of the Clearwater Shrine Club, Clearwater, Florida. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp. in the South Pacific during WW II. Mr. Burmeier was a past member of the Noon Lions Club, past member of the Batavia Moose Lodge, current member of the Golden "K" Thursday Kiwanis Club, past member of the American Legion Post #84 of Aurora.

    He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jarriet L. (MacDougal) Burmeier of Aurora; one daughter, Barbara J. Biddle of Batavia, IL; and one son, William T. (Ellen) Burmeier Sr. of Aurora; two grandsons, Andrew T. (Jennifer) Biddle of St. Charles and William T. Burmeier Jr. of Aurora; one nephew, Gary (Barbara) Suttner of Belleville, IL.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, George F. (Loiuse) Burmeier, and one sister, Emily Suttner.

    Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Dieterle Memorial Home where friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2000. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital 897-1196.
