Nettie was a devout Lutheran and regularly participated in church activities. Nettie was active in the Red Cross during WWII and always involved in charitable events. She was kind hearted and loved by everyone who knew her well. She took care of her mother-in-law and sister- in-law as they faced challenges later in life. She was always sacrificing herself for the benefit of others who were less fortunate.

She came from a family of German bakers and was known for creating wonderful meals complete with home cooked breads. Classic German dishes like pot roast, sauerbraten, red cabbage and potato pancakes were her staple. She lived her entire life in the town of Bayonne, New Jersey, where her father had a German Bakery.

She would be married to the same man all her life. They had two successful children who in turn gave them six grandchildren who all flourished. She also has eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. (And counting.) Her grandchildren called her Oma.

Nettie was a wonderful person who always was a class act. Sadly, late in life, she suffered several strokes and lived the last seven years of her life, away from her family, in a nursing home. Her daughter would suffer a similar fate.

She died relatively young, but she made a big impact on a lot of people.
