CHARLIE FLOYD STARLING

ABBEVILLE. . .Charlie Floyd Starling, a resident of County Road 65, Abbeville, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, March 1, 2012. He was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Union Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Free Will Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Holt Stokes, 6485 County Road 53, Abbeville, AL. 36310.

Mr. Starling was a lifelong resident of Henry County, son of the late Charlie Ross Starling and Agnes Hutto Starling. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and served his country in the U. S. Army Reserve in the Abbeville unit. Mr. Starling formerly owned and operated South Henry Motors, Inc. and was also engaged in farming all his lifetime. He was preceded in death by a son, Brock Tanner Starling, a sister, Frances Starling Bodiford and a brother, Bob Starling.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Virginia Hardy Starling, Abbeville; a son, Kirby Floyd Starling, Abbeville; two granddaughters, Erica Starling Helms and husband, Brandon, and Jessica Starling; a sister, Jeanette Starling Trammell and husband, Sam, Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Ann McKnight and husband, Albert, Midland City; a brother-in-law, Danny Hardy and wife, Ann, Blakely, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Searcy, Brandon Helms, Patrick Crowe, Chris Starling, Earl Ethridge and Albert McKnight. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Barnes and Collins Starling.
