SGT., BAINES, Thomas Nealy 'Tom' Co. G, 4th TX. Inf. Enlisted: 7/19/61, Where: Grimes Co., TX. Appointed Sgt. 9/15/61. His brother William Martin Baines accompanied him Oct. 15 to the Hospital in Richmond, Va. Where Thomas died Nov. 7, 1861. He is the son of George Washington Baines (early but not the first as some articles claim President of Baylor University). William & Thomas are both Great Uncles of President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Their mother was Melissa Ann Butler Baines
