Doris Waymire, 90, of Marion, died Sunday in Colonial Oaks Healthcare Center in Marion.
Doris was born on June 3, 1918, at Letts, Ind. (Decatur County), to the late John and Carrie (Parker) McCammon.
She graduated from Letts High School in 1936 and from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1940 with an A.B. Degree in Latin and mathematics. She attended Purdue University on a General Electric Fellowship Program and received a Masters degree from Ball State and attended Ball State one year beyond the Masters degree.
She married Wayne Waymire, a farmer from Liberty Township, Grant Co., on March 18, 1944. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1993, just 2 weeks short of 49 years of marriage. After his death she moved to Marion and spent many hours doing volunteer mathematics tutoring at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion High School and other county high schools and elementary schools.
She taught 41½ years in Chester Center High School, Fairmount High School, Wallace High School, Summitville, Madison Heights, Elwood and Eastern (Howard Co.) High Schools plus a half of year at Lakeview Christian Church School for a total of 42 years. She retired from teaching in the public schools in 1983 and taught at Lakeview in 1985. She was a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by sister, Joan (Fred) Domrow, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Neal (Helen) McCammon, Mooresville, and Leon (Martha) McCammon, Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by two half brothers, Harold and Milo McCammon; half sister, Luella McCammon; nephew, Greg Domrow, and great-niece, Holly McCammon.
Service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, with Rev. David Kahkole officiating. Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jones Chapel Church or the donors choice in care of the funeral home.
