BUFFALO WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN BATHTUB

Cause of death undetermined for woman who died in Springfield house

A Buffalo woman was found dead in a north-side Springfield house Saturday, Springfield police said.

Georgia Clark, 23, was declared dead at 1:13 p.m. at Cox Medical Center. She was found in a bathtub at the home of relatives at 1553 N. Sherman Ave. about 12:20 p.m.

Police said she may have struck her head on the tub. The only visible injury at the time of death was a bruise near her right ear, police said.

Greene County Medical Examiner, Erwin Busiek said an autopsy was inconclusive and the cause of death remained unknown. He said it was unlikely the woman had drowned.

Further tests are being performed to check for drugs or other possible causes of death.

Busiek said foul play was not suspected and the death was probably accidental.

Police said they were told Mrs. Clark had been having neck pains and severe headaches since she was in an auto accident in December.

3 Sep. 1984,

On the same day, Simmons cousin, Georgia Clark, 23- also of Springfield, was found dead in a bathtub at the home of relatives.

Greene County Medical Examiner Erwin Busiek said he has not ruled the cause of death because preliminary autopsy reports are inconclusive.

(Note the "Simmons" it talks about is Randall Simmons, buried in Sinking Creek Cemetery, near Everton.)
