On June 15, 1896, JOHN T. IJAMS, beloved husband of Annie G. Ijams, and eldest son of the late I. Plummer and Cecilia Ijams, of Howard county, Md. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, No. 1902 Bolton street, this (Wednesday) afternoon, at three o'clock. Interment private.

Inscription

His headstone shows the year of his birth as 1848. However, the 1850 census indicates his birth year as 1838. His death certificate has the year of birth as 1840. My belief is that someone got his birth year off by a decade when the headstone was made.
