Charles Crawford Doss - a native of Decatur, Alabama, and resident of Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama for the past nine months; and previously a long time resident of Covington, Georgia; died Monday, December 12, 2011, at his residence at the age of 74.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Frances Jane Irwin Doss, formerly of Decatur, Alabama and of Mobile, Alabama at her death in 1987, and Jack Crawford Doss of Hartselle, Alabama who died in 1972. Charles Doss was in the United States Marine Corps and honorably discharged in 1961. He was a graduate of New York University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Episilon Fraternity. Charles was a mechanical engineering consultant having worked for numerous aircraft companies such as Boeing, McDonald Douglas, GE, Hughes Missile Systems Corp, and Sikorsky Aircraft, among others throughout the United States. Charles enjoyed interacting with many friends and classmates from high school, college, and his professional career.
He is survived by his first cousins: Terry Locklin Moore, III [Beth] of Daphne, Alabama; Harriet Zoe Moore Powell of Eufaula, Alabama; Cecil Timberlake [Carolyn] of Decatur, Alabama; Sam Timberlake [Mary] of Dadeville, Alabama; Diana Doss Sparkman [Michael] of Hartselle, Alabama; Jean Doss Kerr [Steve] of Atlanta, Georgia; Charles Harold Doss [Elise] of Birmingham, Alabama; Ellen Doss Milling of Griffin, Georgia; Jenny Doss Westfall [Barry] of Brightfall Beach, North Carolina; and Jerry Lynn [Nancy] of Atlanta, Georgia; and their families and many friends.
A private graveside service will be held in Decatur, Alabama at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016 or a charity of your choice . Arrangements by Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL.
