Left to mourn his loss are Betty, his wife of 51 years; four daughters--Colleen and Robert Wright of Rowlett, Tammy Stuart of Mesquite, Lori and Billy Feeler of Odessa, and Kathy and Chris Hill of Elgin; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren (and one on the way); three brothers—Elmer and Doris Kramer of Stonewall, David and Pat Kramer of Raleigh N.C., and Ed and Judy Kramer of Fredericksburg; and one sister, Mary and Weldon Allison of Austin.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Louis and Lydia Kramer, and one brother, Freddie Kramer.
Charles loved God, his family, and his country. He served proudly in the United States Army from January 1958 to July 1967. He served in Korea, and during the Vietnam War he served in Okinawa, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan.
He lived his life as a whole to reach his destination with God, but he was known well as someone who lived daily in celebration of the journey, taking every long short cut he could from one stop to the next.
He was retired and enjoyed going to Mojo football games, gardening, and sitting in the shade with his "bride." He liked being home with his computer, cat, squirrels, bird, and turtles.
His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of his life, and he always looked forward to their visits and to taking them on his legendary "road trips."
He was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving as longtime Stewardship Secretary and as reader.
Visitation will be Thursday 6 – 8 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jerry Bagwell of Vandalia, Il, and Rev. Jim Meyers officiating. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Well done, my good and faithful servant.
