Rene Bennett came to West Willington, Connecticut in 1918 from Brooklyn, NY. Shortly thereafter the family settled in Ashford, CT. Rene 1st worked in the Daleville Button Factory, and his last job before retiring was as a groundskeeper at the University of Connecticut.
He and Gladys raised five children. They also bred, raised and showed German Shepherd dogs and were active in the Tolland German Shepherd Club.
