The few remaining old veterans are again called upon to mourn the death of an old comrade and friend, Brother Thomas Barnes, who died April 27th 1914, age nearly seventy-two.Enlisted in Co. "D" 7th Mississippi Regiment in 1861. He was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. Another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old settlers. He had filled the various relations of life as son, husband, father, brother, friend and filled them well. Who can do more?
