Mrs. Critchfield Funeral Is Held
Tonopah - Funeral services for Mrs. Ed Critchfield, who died at the Nye County Hospital here after an illness of several months, were conducted at Wonacott and Cavanaugh Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 6. The Rev. W.J. Howes read the last rites.
Burial was in the Tonopah Cemetery and casketbearers were Allen Douglass, Rod McInnis, Walter Bowler, Joe Crook, Jack Berg and Bob Belcher.
Mrs. Critchfield was born in Belmont, NV, August 20, 1891, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brotherton, one of eight children in the family. When a girl of 13 her mother died and as the eldest of the children remaining at home, she cared for the family and lived at home until her marriage to Claude Mealman, two children were born to this union. In 1928 she married Ed Critchfield and made her home at Round Mountain after that time, except for five years during the last war when the family lived in Tonopah and Fallon.
Survivors are her husband Ed Critchfield; daughter, Mrs. Warren Ernst (Genevieve) of Fallon; son Harvey (George) Mealman of Reno; three sisters, Alice Lorigan, Tonopah; Babe Brown, Austin; Essie Borrego, Round Mountain; two brothers, Harry Brotherton, Tonopah; Lee Brotherton, Manhattan, and a number of nieces and nephews."
