Robert James "Bob" Dawson, former Iowa Park resident, died Tuesday, February 28th 2012, in Frisco, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1st 2012, at First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, Texas, with Rev. Glen Pearce, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Bob was born December 23rd 1926 in Lanton, Missouri, to Martin and Mona Stephens Dawson. He graduated from Hayti High School in Hayti, Missouri. He earned his Bachelor's degree form Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Master's Degree in education from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. He married Phyllis Annebeth Phelon in 1947. Bob served in the United States Army in Germany from 1945 through 1946. He worked as a teacher, coach and administrator in the Iowa Park public school system from 1957 until 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park where he served as chairman of deacons and in many capacities including education and music. He was founding member of the North Texas Men's Choir. Bob was very active in many civic activities throughout Wichita County including little league football and baseball, Library Board, election Precinct Chairman and Grand Jury Foreman.

His parents, three brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Jacqueline Ruth Riley, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Annebeth Dawson of Frisco, Texas: children, Robert Martin Dawson and wife, Judy of Frisco, Texas, and Mary Ann Pryor and husband, Roger of West Point, Mississippi; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a brother, Neal Dawson and wife, Wanda of Olive Branch, Mississippi.
