Arthur A. Willis of 1532 Cerro Gordo, Los Angeles, Calif.(90026), a former resident of the community when a young boy, passed away Monday, August 26, 1968 at the age of 85 years. He was a a brother of H..A.. Willis and Mrs. John Coffin of Elysian.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 29, in the Old North Church at Forest Lawn, Hollywood, Calif, with the Rev. Frank Kelley of St. Thanasius Episcopal Church, Los Angeles, officiating.

Burial was in For est Lawn Memorial Park.

Arthur A. Willis was born March 23, 1883, in Murray County, Minnesota, a son of the late Edward and Emma (Records) Willis. When a young boy he moved here with his parents on to the farm southwest of town in Janesville township, Waseca county (now the Joseph Strohl farm). He graduated from high school at Janesville (1900) and after studying mining engineering at the University of Minnesota went to Alaska where he spent 13 years.

Following service in the Air Force in World War I he was married to Rachel Brandu (Browder) in Texas. Before going to Los Angeles Art had a ranch in Imperial Valley, Holtville, Calif.

He leaves his wife, Rachel; one daughter, Mrs, Mary Biou (Biow) of Los Angeles, Calif,; and three sons, Col Edward Willis, U.S. Army, Cmdr. Arthur Willis, U.S. Navy, and John Willis of New York and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Herb A. Willis of Elysian; and four sisters Mrs R. (Sadie) McDowell of El Paso Texas, Mrs. Walter (Hazel) Shannon of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Wm J. (Gladys) Clarke of Santa Ana, Calif., and Mrs. John (Ruth) Coffin, Elysian.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, John Willis; and two sisters Ellen Willis and Mrs. Burt (Bessie) Hubbard.

Three of the pallbearers at the final rites were Miner Hubbard, Kenneth Coffin, and Ronald McFarland, all of California and nephews of Mr. Willis.
