Robert G. Banks, Sr., age 77 of Franklin, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Atrium Hospital, Middletown with his family by his side. Bob was born in Ashland, KY on August 20, 1934 to the (late) Luther & Nola (Whitt) Banks; a U.S. Army veteran; and retired with 33 years of service at Sorg Paper Co., Middletown. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold & Darrell Banks; and three sisters, Henrietta Hudson, Ruth Moore, & Betty Havens. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mamie (Shackelford) Banks; son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. Jr. & Stephanie Banks of Trenton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ada Jean & Geary Fraley of Covington, OH Debra Marie & Rob Ross of Middletown; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Jeanne Banks of Middletown; sister, Bonnie Allen of Newark, OH; and other relatives and friends. Graveside service 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Covington, OH with Pastor John Shelton officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Veteran Elite Tribute Squad. The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at the Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 1500 Manchester Ave., Middletown.
