Donald L. Hennessy passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short battle with cancer on February 24, 2012. He was 63 years old. Donald was born on Jan 1, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Donald T. and Virginia L. Hennessy. He was the first baby of the year. Donald was raised in Ogden graduating from Ben Lomond in 1967. He was then drafted into the army and served in Vietnam. On March 1, 1973 he married Ann Biddle and had four children. They later divorced. In April 1995 he married Velma LeDeau. They later divorced.
He enjoyed watching the game show network, bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting and attending the Ogden Raptor games.
On February 25, 2001, Donald bowled his first 300 game and on November 9, 2011 he celebrated 21 years of sobriety, both of which he was extremely proud of.
He worked 30 years at HAFB and retired in May of 2006. He also worked at the Clinton and Riverdale Wal-Mart until the time of this death. Donald had a unique laugh and sense of humor that we will all miss.
He is survived by his children B.J. (Tanya) Hennessy, Virginia "Ginny" Hennessy (Ed Salazar, Bryan Hennessy (Britnee Wakley), Reggie Hennessy, grandchildren, Devin, Michelle, Dallas, Jaxsen, Savana, Cade, E.J., brothers and sisters; Donna (Bruce) Wayment, John (Nancy) Hennessy, David (Diane) Hennessy, Patti Hennessy, Sue Hennessy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and one niece.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Family will greet friends on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday prior to the service from 9:45~10:45 a.m.
Interment will be held at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, where Military Honors will be accorded.
