Mayme O. Lowe Hickman Hostetter

Mayme was born at Dora, Missouri, the eighth of nine children to Robert Lowe and Oney Sparks Lowe. She attended school at Pleasant Mound public school. Mayme was a devoted student who loved to learn, even in her older age.

In 1942 she met and married Roy Hickman from Arkansas during his enlistment in the U.S. Army, where he fought in the Pacific Theater. They migrated to Parma, Idaho in 1950 where they raised three children. She was the ultimate homemaker-cooking, canning, sewing and quilting. Roy died suddenly in 1988.

Mayme married Merl Hostetter, a neighbor and family friend, in 1991. They traveled and wintered in Arizona. Merl died in 2000. She attended church all her life, first as a Baptist, then in 1988 she became a member of Sterry Presbyterian.

Mayme is survived by her children: Jean (Jim) Eggler and Gary (Kathy) Hickman, both of Parma, and Susan Gillman, of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; an expected great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins; four stepchildren; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, three sisters, five brothers, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on March 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Sterry Presbyterian Church in Roswell, Idaho.

In lieu of flower,s the family suggests donation be made to Sterry Presbyterian's Children and Youth Education, PO Box 655, Parma, Idaho 83660.
