ATLANTA - Ben J. Aper, 78, of R.R. 1, Atlanta, a farmer and former bank vice president, died at 7:45 a.m. yesterday (June 26, 1991) at Brokaw Hospital, Normal.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hartsburg, the Rev. Marvin Goll officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, and one hour before the service at the church Friday.

He was born Oct. 20, 1912, in Hartsburg, a son of Henry and Jennie Ruben Aper. He married Pauline McCain on March 3, 1940, in Lincoln. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Harvey H., Atlanta; one daughter, Norma Jean Finn, Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

He was vice president of the Hartsburg State Bank for 30 years and was a farmer, retiring in 1982. He also was a real estate broker and drove a school bus for 15 years in the Atlanta public school system.

He was a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club and St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, where he served as trustee or deacon for several years.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Hartsburg, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
